Cities and Counties across the country…. Create Citizen Corps Councils of their own design, bringing together first responders, volunteer organizations, Law Enforcement Agencies, community serving institutions, such as schools, hospitals and houses of worship. Some Citizens Corps Councils coordinate programs that will feature local activities that reflect new and existing National Programs such as Neighborhood Watch, Community Emergency Response Teams, ( CERT ) Volunteers in Police Service, and the Medical Reserve Corps. These programs are to enable average citizens to help their communities in the event of a major disaster, such as Flooding or a Terrorist Attack, etc. These programs are set up to meet local needs, and organizers work closely with local officials. Our Citizens Corp Council and local leaders will be working to expand opportunities for their Community members to engage in voluntary service that will support Emergency preparedness, prevention and response.
